FIELD CANVASSER

Temporary Position: Field Canvasser ( June 10th to November 5th)

Reports to: Field Manager/Canvass Director

Pay Rate: $22/ Hour

Status:  Full-time (35-40 hrs) 

Schedule:  Monday To Friday 12:00 PM to 8:00 PM (with occasional weekends and flexible scheduling according to project requirements)

Location: Minneapolis, Minnesota (Canvassers will convene at our headquarters in Minneapolis before departing to their designated areas with their respective teams)

The People's Canvass (TPC) is a consultancy and service provider dedicated to advancing social transformation and promoting electoral campaigns. Specializing in organizing and canvassing, we view canvassing as a foundational strategy for grassroots organizing. Our approach is built around creating and strengthening robust infrastructures that support membership development, small donor fundraising, data collection, and base building.

Canvasser Job Description

As a Canvasser for The People’s Canvass and our partner organizations, you will play an integral role as the vital link between us and the community. This position involves actively engaging with community members to clearly communicate our initiatives, gather their feedback, and inspire them to join our diverse campaigns, ranging from social transformation projects to specific electoral campaigns. Your dynamic presence, persuasive communication skills, and deep commitment to our mission are crucial in expanding our outreach efforts. Additionally, your ability to adapt and pivot among various thematic areas as needed will be essential in effectively supporting and leading the impactful campaigns we undertake.

Canvasser Responsibilities 

  • Walk door to door and around a specific turf, speaking with individuals, possible driving but not required.

  • Approach people outside and on the sidewalk

  • Work closely with Field Manager to ensure accountability and quality control

  • Handling confidential paperwork

Qualifications

  • Excellent interpersonal skills

  • Ability to work some weekends

  • Ability to work outdoors

  • Ability to walk and stand for long periods

  • Flexibility around projects

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bilingual (Spanish, Hmong, Somali, Oromo)

  • Valid Driver's Licenses

  • High School Diploma or GED

  • Previous work experience as a canvasser

  • Basic understanding of grassroots campaigning
